One in five web surfers used Mozilla Firefox in October 2008. Net Applications, a data service that tracks browser usage across the globe reported that usage of Mozilla Firefox topped 20% last month for the first time ever. The open-source browser made popular by techies and those wanting to extend the power of their browser through the use of Firefox add-ons is second to only Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE). The report also shows that Internet Explorer’s share dipped to 71.27% in October, representing a more than 7% slide from the 78.36% share it recorded in October 2007.
